Mini course: 5 simple Thai massage techniques
1. Pressing the palms along the legs
- Gently place your palms on the thighs and press down with light, rhythmic pressure all the way to the feet.
- Repeat the movement 2–3 times per leg.
- 👉 Effect: Promotes blood circulation, loosens muscles.
2. Thumb pressure on the soles of the feet
- Place your thumbs on the balls of the feet and work your way down to the heels using small pressure points.
- The pressure should be comfortable but noticeable.
- 👉 Effect: Activates reflex zones, relaxes the feet.
3. Gently stretching the legs
- The person being massaged lies on their back. Hold both feet and gently pull the legs toward you until a gentle stretch is felt.
- Hold briefly, then slowly release.
- 👉 Effect: Promotes mobility and releases tension in the lower back.
4. Pressing the palms of the hands on the back
- With the person lying on their stomach: Place the palms of your hands on the left and right sides of the spine.
- Gently press down with your body weight and release the pressure again.
- 👉 Effect: Relaxes the back muscles and stimulates the energy points.
5. Shoulder stretch while sitting
- The person sits upright. Grasp their arms from behind and gently pull them back and down.
- Hold briefly, then release.
- 👉 Effect: Releases tension in the neck and shoulder area.
